The Hull Identification Variety (HIN) is a twelve- or fourteen-character serial range that uniquely identifies a ship. The HIN is analogous to your VIN on a car or truck.

The first three digits will be the Producer’s Identification Code (ex. Boat brand including Sea Ray, Meridian, and so forth.). The 4 digits following that tend to be the producer’s serial quantity for the boat. The 3rd and 4th digits from your finish are the date of manufacture.
